Autumn is a wonderful season to visit the beach! The weather is typically beautiful and the crowds have dissipated. Plus, there are plenty of awesome things to do while you’re here. Here’s what’s happening in Cherry Grove and North Myrtle Beach in November.
Local Events and Clean Up Efforts
Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church is holding their annual “Crafting by the Sea” craft far Friday, November 1st through Sunday, November 3rd. They are located at the corner of Highway 17 and 8th Avenue North in NMB. The event is free and there is plenty of parking. There will be over 35 tables of handcrafted creations and some delicious baked goods for sale.
On Saturday, November 2nd from 9:00 am until noon, the City of North Myrtle Beach is conducting its annual home clean up day at the NMB Sanitation Transfer Station on 2nd Avenue South. This event provides an opportunity for residents of NMB to clean out their homes and get rid of unwanted items including appliances, TV’s, paint, chemicals, oil, old tires, and more. There is another Community Clean Up event on November 8th from 9 AM – 2 PM. Horry County Service Day will focus on clearing drainage ditches, culverts, canals, waterways, and streams. Volunteers with boats/watercraft are encouraged to attend and bring their boats. Learn more at www.horrycounty.org/serviceday.
Palmetto Goodwill is holding a donation drive at 810 Billiards & Bowling in NMB on Saturday, November 9th from noon until 2 PM. There will be a truck in the parking lot accepting donations of clothing, household items and small appliances. Every person that donates will receive a donation receipt for tax purposes and a special offer from 810 Bowling. You can learn more at www.palmettogoodwill.org.
The Johnny Causey Memorial Fish Fry benefitting the NMB DPS scholarship fund takes place on Thursday, November 7th from 11 AM until 3 PM in the parking lot at Everything Under the Sun Flea Market. Established in 2007 to honor the memory of Johnny L. Causey, Sr., who dedicated 41 years of his life in his career as a police officer, police chief, and first director of public safety, funds raised are awarded in scholarship form to the children of all current and retired Public Safety employees.
The Carolina Beach Music Awards take place on November 10th at The Alabama Theatre in North Myrtle Beach. There will be a variety of beach music events at various clubs and businesses the Friday and Saturday prior to the award ceremony. Sports Tournaments and More
If sports is more your thing, the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex is hosting a variety of tournaments throughout the month including softball, baseball, and lacrosse events. In addition, there will be a 5K “Dashing through the Glow” race taking place on November 22nd. You can check out everything that’s happening throughout the month by visiting their website here.
Also happening at the NMB Sports Complex is the awesome Christmas Light Show which officially opens on November 22nd and runs through December 30th. This spectacular annual event features over 2 million lights on a 1.5 mile long course through the park. After taking the tour, visitors are encouraged to park their car and visit Santa’s Village where you can enjoy snacks, hot chocolate, and get an up close look at the lights on the Santa Express Train Ride. This year, Boulineau’s is a proud sponsor of this awesome event. Admission is $15 per car load and more information can be found by visiting the park’s website.
Progress continues to be made on a new LED sign the city is installing at the corner of Robert Edge Parkway and Route 17 (as you come into NMB). This sign can withstand winds up to 140 mph. Content for the sign will promote events taking place as well as provide information during hurricanes and other emergencies.
Paid parking ends for the season on November 1st. All kiosks in city owned lots will be turned off and parking will remain free until March 1, 2020. The city is also seeking feedback on the paid parking initiative. You can learn more by clicking here.
Boulineau’s Happenings
Bingo is off to a rousing start here at Boulineau’s. Coffee and donuts are provided and a good time is practically guaranteed. Bingo will be held in the second floor meeting room every Tuesday from 9 until 11:00 am. With cool prizes, delicious donuts, and great company, we’re sure you’ll want to return again and again.
Boulineau’s is having another customer appreciation event on November 15th and 16th. There will be some great in-store sales and free lunch in our upstairs meeting area on both days.
