Planning a trip to North Myrtle Beach? As someone that visiting for many years before making the leap and making this beautiful beach my home, I’ve created a list of essential items you’ll want to bring with you when you visit.
Cooler – this may be obvious but I was surprised how many times we nearly left for vacation without ours. If you want to be super prepared, you can pre-cook a few meals and freeze them to bring with you during your vacation. This will allow you to spend more time relaxing and less time in the kitchen.
Extra beach towels and swimsuits – one is never enough. As a general rule, I recommend a minimum of two for each person.
Long sleeved clothing – be sure to bring a sweatshirt for everyone. Evenings can get chilly and they also come in handy as protection against bug bites.
Salt and Pepper – as a huge pepper person, I found that most rental units did not provide adequate amounts of this kitchen staple. While you’re at it, throw in a few of your go-to spices as well.
Scissors – most rental units come equipped with only the basics. I found that scissors were a necessity – for cutting tags off of the souvenir t-shirts, for cooking, for cutting open those tough plastic containers. Trust me; you’ll want to have a pair handy.
Hand Soap and Hand Towels – I’m not sure about you, but our family goes through hand soap like crazy. And, the linens provided by most rentals companies almost never include an adequate supply of hand towels.
Drying Rack – this will prove to be invaluable with your wet towels and swimsuits.
Baby Powder – this is the best way to remove sand when leaving the beach. A cheap paint brush also comes in handy for brushing the sand off of you and your beach gear.
Unique kitchen tools – If you like to cook like me, you’ll want to make sure you bring anything that you use on a regular basis. For me, it was a hand mixer, small colander, and round baking pan (for cinnamon rolls in the morning). Most rentals only provide the bare minimum.
Board games – our family loves to gather around the living room in the evening for a rousing round of our favorite board game. Be sure to bring a few of your faves and make some memories with your family.
